What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a holistic and alternative health service that supports every person as a whole. From minor to major chronic or acute problems, it tackles what is particular to the individual. It is based on an age-old principle called the law of similars. Learn More
Each remedy is individualized for every person. What is elicited during the homeopathic case taking process is the correspondence between physical symptoms, mind, and emotions. It is this interconnection that is used to find the right similimum, the remedy that is most similar to the unique state of the individual.
The remedies are made from natural substances and have been proved in healthy individuals to discern the state each one causes mentally, emotionally and physically in the healthy person. This state or disturbance is then what the remedy is known to treat. The results are compiled in the Material Medica, which is the synthesis of homeopathic research of provings of over 200 years. Matching the individual’s state with the remedy state is the practice of the law of similars. We call this finding the core remedy.
What needs to be understood is the uniqueness of suffering. For example, someone with arthritis may feel pain and decreased range of motion in her joints, but that is not uncommon. What about her mental state? What does she dream? What is going on emotionally? And what are more unusual symptoms that may seem unrelated to the joint pain? What are her stressors and how do they affect her? What in life in general are triggers for reactions on all planes? It is the underlying state of the individual as a whole that is explored and makes homeopathy an individualized holistic support to restore balance to the whole person. It is essentially energetic in its action on the whole person, the deeper place of interconnection of mind and body, and works on every level therein. It is complementary to allopathic western medicine because it works on a completely different level, so both can be used together when necessary.
When the core remedy is given, it activates one’s innate healing capacity. As the remedy action takes place, the vital energy that was caught in the disturbance is released and freed, and a new level of vitality on all levels – physical, mental, and emotional – emerges. So in the case of the arthritis, she feels more in synch with the flow of life, decreased stress levels and mental preoccupations are observed, and even relationships may feel more harmonious, while greater range of motion and decreased pain may be observed in the joints.
What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathy promotes health using nutrition, botanical substances, vitamins, and supplements. It is based on principles that work to establish healthy lifestyle habits, eliminate toxins, and restore deficiencies using the healing power of nature. Preventative, supportive, and therapeutic measures are available. Naturopathy recognizes too that every individual is in complex interaction with the world and identifies factors that are helpful for the whole person to build energy, vitaliy, and happiness, while doing no harm. Homeopathy and naturopathy are complementary to each other.
The Therapeutic Process
The consultation takes 1.5 hours and includes discussion of the core dynamic. Naturopathic and homeopathic supports are used in conjunction with the core remedy to aid the healing process. Homeopathic supports work on a cellular level to aid each system of the body, while naturopathic supports work on a biochemical level to help the body systems.
The process starts with discussion of the symptoms. A thorough intake is used to assess the symptoms of each body system. An in depth discussion of the problems takes place. Then inquiry and exploration of the chief complaint, and perceptions, reactions, and feelings around the stressors, bring the process deeper to one’s innermost subjective experience of the disturbance. The process weaves into the depth of the inner state, and in this way the dialogue reveals the body-mind correlations that describe the “whole organism” dynamic.

Holistic and Energetic Medicine
Julia’s passion for health arose from her fascination with the meaningfulness and depth of life, always contemplating the force behind what animates life, gives breath, and moves the mind. She spent 4 years studying the subtle energy body, meditation, and learning different alternative healing modalities at the Natural Health Consultant’s Institute, obtaining certificates in Vibrational Medicine, Spiritual Psychotherapy, and Therapeutic Massage. It was Judyann McNamara’s teaching there that inspired her to mentor under her in learning Homeopathy.
Homeopathy and Naturopathy
She went on to focus in homeopathy after she discovered Judyann McNamara’s teaching of a quantum health paradigm and holism. She obtained her diplomas in Homeopathy and Naturopathy at the Montreal Institute of Classical Homeopathy. Then she became part of the faculty after graduation in 2009 where she facilitated group learning for 6 years. She has been working as a Homeopath in private practice since 2009.
Nursing
Julia became a nurse to expand her level of expertise in human health, and western medicine’s valuable role and impact. It rounded out her practice to become truly holistic and deepened her understanding of disease processes. She worked at the Montreal Children’s Hospital as a pediatric nurse for 5 years after graduating with honors from Dawson College in 2010. Becoming a nurse has been an invaluable experience, gaining deeper medical understanding and skills in pediatrics, geriatrics, psychiatrics, obstetrics, and medical/surgical theory and interventions.
Urgent Care
Julia completed her nursing program with an intensive internship in the Emergency Room at the Royal Victoria Hospital. She intervened in life threatening situations and gained the knowledge to discern when medical intervention is necessary and life saving. She also got a lot of practice when she acted as a homeopath and onsite nurse for a mission with Homeopaths Without Borders in Honduras.
Continued Training
Julia is dedicated to continued education and continues to follow the continuing education at the Montreal Institute of Classical Homeopathy, as well as her own pursuits in study and seminars in naturopathy and homeopathy. She currently also works as a Naturopath helping clients find nutritional and naturopathic supports at the health food store Fleur Sauvage in NDG.
Other interests
Julia is fantastic with children and now has one of her own. She is dedicated to her family and spending time outdoors. Camping, nature walks, boating, and swimming are her favorite past times. She also loves yoga and meditation.
